Most traditional pedicure chairs rely on a built-in jet system to circulate water. The problem is that those jets are notoriously difficult to clean, and even with regular disinfection, residue and biofilm can linger deep inside the plumbing where no scrub brush can reach. That's how cross-contamination happens between guests, even at salons that look spotless on the surface.
At Windermere, we use a single-use jet system. The disposable jet is opened in front of you, used once during your service, and thrown away when your pedicure is done. The next guest gets a brand-new one. There is no shared plumbing, no recycled water path, and no risk of carrying anything over from the person who sat in that chair before you.
A Disposable Liner Inside the Tub — Every Time
Even with a clean basin, we add another layer of protection: a fresh disposable plastic liner placed inside the pedicure bowl before we fill it with water. Your feet only ever touch water that just came out of the tap and a liner that was sealed until your appointment. The moment your service ends, the liner comes out and goes straight in the trash, and a new one is placed for the next guest.
It's a small step, but it means the basin itself never makes contact with anyone's skin.
A Fresh Single-Use Pedicure Kit for Every Guest
The pumice, nail file, buffer, and toe separators we use during your pedicure all come packaged together in a sealed single-use kit. The kit stays sealed until your appointment, gets opened in front of you at your station, is used once, and then thrown away when your service ends. One guest, one kit — every time.
Reusing items like a pumice, nail file, or buffer — even after a soak in disinfectant — can transfer dead skin, oils, and bacteria from foot to foot, and that's a shortcut we won't take. If you see your technician open a fresh sealed kit at your chair, that's exactly why.
Hospital-Grade Sterilization for Stainless Steel Tools
Some tools are built to be reused, and tossing them after a single service would be wasteful and worse for the environment. Our high-quality stainless steel nippers, cuticle pushers, and clippers fall into that category — so instead of throwing them away, we sterilize them properly between every guest.
Every metal tool is scrubbed clean, run through an ultrasonic cleaner, and then sterilized in sealed pouches. Those pouches stay sealed until they're opened at your station, so you can see for yourself that the tools haven't been used since the last sterilization cycle.
Why We're This Strict
This level of sanitation costs more. Disposable jets, fresh tub liners, single-use pedicure kits, and the time required to properly sterilize tools all add up — and plenty of salons skip steps for that reason. We don't, for two reasons.
First, our guests deserve it. A pedicure should leave you feeling pampered, not anxious about what you were sitting in. If you've ever left a salon worrying about an ingrown nail, an irritated cuticle, or a fungal infection, you understand why this matters.
Second, this is a fresh start. Windermere Nails & Spa was rebuilt under new ownership in January 2026 — new staff, a renovated space, and rebuilt standards from the ground up.
